Mille Lacs walleye regulation changes Dec. 1
Walleye anglers who fish Mille Lacs Lake are reminded that effective Thursday, Dec. 1, four walleye up to 18 inches may be kept. All walleye between 18 and 28” must be immediately released. One walleye over 28” is allowed in possession. The mid-season change that allows possession of walleye up to 20 inches in size expires at midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
Red Lake walleye reg changes Dec. 1
The DNR is reminding anglers that walleye regulations for Upper Red Lake will revert back to a 17 to 26-inch protected slot limit beginning Dec. 1, through the winter walleye season. The daily and possession limit will remain at four fish, with only one fish over 26 inches allowed. The winter adjustment back to the 17- to 26-inch protected range is a necessary step for harvest management because winter angling pressure on Upper Red has been consistently higher than open water pressure.
