Goralene Peterson

Goralene Mae (Johnson) Peterson, of Mendota Heights, Minn., passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and family in Mendota Heights after a short, intense bout with cancer. 

She was born July 26, 1913 in Stanchfield, Minn. to John and Selma Johnson and graduated from Braham High School in 1931. On April 26, 1934, she married Woodrow M. Peterson. Goralene was a long-time employee of East Central Electric Association in Braham. Goralene was an avid sports fan and played on one of the first Minnesota state high school girls’ basketball teams. She will be remembered for her lifelong love of puzzles and card games.

Goralene is survived by one son Jerome (Joanne) of Princeton, Minn., two daughters Diana (Tom Mulvihill) of Mendota Heights, Minn., and Nancy (Ralph Krafve) of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; eleven grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, many great great grandchildren and several other relatives and dear friends, especially those at the Southview Plaza Apartments.

Preceding her in death were husband, Woodrow; grandson Calvin Mulvihill and 9 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, Edina, 7110 France Avenue South, with visitation one hour prior. There will be a light reception to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Allina Hospice fund.
