Auditions for Play Inc’s February musical

Play Inc Community Theatre of Cambridge is thrilled to be able to announce its first truly offseason family production, and they think it’s one everybody is going to love.

This Feb. 10, 11, and 12, the hills will be alive once again with The Sound of Music. The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical that asks “How do you solve a problem like Maria?” and then shows how Maria handles all the real problems around her. You won’t want to miss being a part of it.

Auditions will be held Dec. 17. The audition will include a prepared solo as well as some readings from the show determined at the discretion of the director. For exact place and time information, visit www.playcinonline.org. All information will be available beginning the week of Nov. 28.

Play Inc is looking for kids and adults who are interested in getting on stage, helping with tech and other behind the scenes opportunities, as well as helping with public relations and other odds and ends. There is a way for anybody interested to be involved in this production. To get involved in any way other than performing, contact Play Inc.

Lydia Orvis, a 2006 Braham graduate and 2010 Bethel University graduate (with a degree in theatre) will be making her Play Inc directing debute in the very show in which she starred last summer in the Twin Cities. They are pleased to have her continue as part of the Play Inc team. Lydia has also directed two summers of the Little League Players–the elementary-aged program offered in the summer.

A statement from the Play Inc.’s Board of Directors:

“Following last summer’s hugely successful production of Les Miserables, Play Inc wanted to get back on the boards right away. More importantly we have waited for the right time to fully open the program to any and everybody.”

Play Inc’s other foray’s into the adult community theatre world included The Last 5 Years in 2005, Tick, Tick, Boom… in 2007, Songs For a New World in 2009, Pippin in 2010 which were all mature and intellectually engaging efforts, but featured small casts and provided a great opportunity for college students in the area.

With The Sound of Music, Play Inc hopes to encourage and invite all adults out there who have a strong desire to get involved in theatre in whatever capacity to contact them and join them on, behind, or in front of the stage. They feel this is the perfect show for them to truly become Play Inc Community Theatre.”
