New Beginnings Community Church is excited to announce their new location in Cambridge.
The church is now located at 2275 335th Lane NE, just several blocks behind Perkins after turning left onto Garfield Street from Hwy. 95.
Started by Pastors Roger Anderson and Jerry Tarman in spring 2008, New Beginnings first held worship services in the old Dalbo Baptist Church building, where it remained for about a year and a half.
The church then used the Fish House in Cambridge before the city approached Anderson about using the facility on 335th Lane, which they’ve used since this spring.
Despite the moves, the church retains the same core group of people, Anderson said.
“We don’t care where the church is, we care about the people,” he said. “The people make the church.” He hopes to stay in the location for a long time.
The people of New Beginnings enjoy the neighborhood. When the storm blew down trees throughout the city this summer, he and members of New Beginnings got to know the community when they went around their new neighborhood helping residents remove debris.
Anderson pastored at Elim Baptist in Isanti for 22 years before he became ill and had to leave. When he helped start New Beginnings Community Church, he chose the name because it resonated with his situation.
“There’s not a lot of churches out there looking for 62-year-old guys who just had major surgery and have Parkinson’s disease,” he said. “For me it was just a whole new start.”
Anderson lives in Isanti with his wife Joyce. On Sunday mornings, Anderson primarily preaches and delivers sermons, while Pastor Tarman conducts worship service.
“Our goal was to find nicked and bruised people and to help them, to love them, and encourage them and to see the love of Christ grow in them,” he said. “That’s what we’re after.”
New Beginnings Community Church holds worship service at 10 a.m. Sundays and youth group at 6 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 763-688-2223.
