Owls drop two games heading into break

Minnesota slipped down into fourth place in the MNJHL after dropping a pair of games last weekend. The Owls are currently six points back of league-leader TC Northern Lights.

On Oct. 28, the Owls were down 2-0 early to Rochester until goals by Jess “Bubba” Engquist and Kolton Kahoot knotted the score. Before the end of the second, the Ice Hawks scored their third goal which was the eventual winner. Despite numerous chances in the final minutes of the third period the Owls were unable to score the equalizer and lost 3-2.

At Hudson on Oct. 29, Minnesota fell to the Crusaders 4-3. Sheldon Kihle scored the first Owls’ goal, and Dallas Tucker tucked two in the net in the third period. Goalie Austin Campbell came on in relief in the nets and played strongly, stopping 27 of 28 shots.

• The Owls’ next home game is Saturday, Nov. 12 against the Twin Cities Northern Lights. It will be a “Military Appreciation” evening as part of Veteran’s Day. All military personnel are invited to come down for ½ price admittance.
