Denise Angela Engstrom

Denise Angela Engstrom, 55, of Cambridge passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West after a courageous battle with cancer. 

She was born Nov. 26, 1955 in Isanti County, Minnesota to Harold and Ardis (Magnuson) Engstrom. Denise grew up in the Dalbo area where she attended country school and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1974.  Denise met Brian Soderberg and they spent over 26 years together and have two children Desirae, born in 1989, and Daniel, born in 1991.

Over the years they have lived much of the time in the Cambridge/Isanti area, but also lived in Blaine, Elk River, Zimmerman, and Princeton. More recently in August 2009 they bought a home in Cambridge.

Denise worked at various jobs in Cambridge including Control Data, Spring Lake Plastics, Wal-Mart and most recently was assistant manager in the paint department at Menards.

She attended Salem Lutheran Church of Dalbo. Denise enjoyed dancing, going on walks, being in the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. It was Denise’s wish to see her daughter Desirae get married. Less than two hours before she passed away, Denise witnessed Desirae and Cory Frank become a married couple in the chapel at GracePointe Crossing Gables West with hospice Chaplain Steve Robertson officiating.

Denise was preceded in death by her father Harold and is survived by partner and soul mate Brian Soderberg, children Desirae and husband Cory Frank of Princeton, Daniel Soderberg of Cambridge, mother Ardis and husband Charles Herman of Princeton, brothers Keith Engstrom of Dalbo, Craig (Sharon) Engstrom of Dalbo, Scott Engstrom of Cambridge, also Brian’s family mother Beverly Soderberg of Isanti, father Sheldon Soderberg of Cambridge, brothers Kevan (Kim) Soderberg of Farmington, Shaun (P.J.) Soderberg of Ogilvie, as well as many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Church of Dalbo with Rev. Bill Pearson officiating. Special music will be provided by Jay Oestreich. Organist will be Roberta Erickson. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge and one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cambridge.
