Jacket Volleyball beats Wildcats in playoff opener

Cambridge-Isanti snapped a two-year playoff loss streak to Chisago Lakes by rolling to a 25-16, 28-25, 25-20, 25-23 victory at home Oct. 26. The No. 8 seed Bluejackets advance to the Section 7AAA quarterfinals to take on No. 1 seed Andover on Friday, Oct. 28 (7 p.m. @ AHS).

Senior co-captain Katelyn Torgerson served in six straight points to create a 17-13 lead in the pivotal Game 3 Jacket victory.

After the Wildcats tied the match at one game apiece, C-I senior Katelyn Togerson served her team out to a 4-1 lead in Game 3. Kylie Baas, Sydney Larkin and Torgerson later added ace serves to keep the momentum in the Jackets’ favor.

Game 4 was a tight back-and-forth affair, with the Jackets taking a late 23-20 lead. But the Wildcats rallied to knot the score at 23-23 before Baas made an athletic tip for point 24, then the ‘Cats final kill attempt went wide for match-point.
