“Grease is the Word” at CIHS this autumn

Cambridge-Isanti High School is presenting the classic 50’s musical “Grease” this fall. The cast has been chosen, the pit orchestra is practicing, and the set is being built to house this show which features such songs as “Greased Lightning,” “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “You’re the One That I Want,” and “Beauty School Dropout.”

Instead of two weekends, this year the musical will be presented only one weekend, opening on Thursday, Nov, 17 at 7 p.m. and running Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19 at 7 p.m. nightly. It concludes on Sunday, Nov. 20 with a 2 p.m. matinee.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Nov. 1 and will be available between 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on school days either in person at the ticket booth or by calling 763-689-6466 to reserve tickets. Tickets $8/adults and $6/students & senior citizens.

Mr. Bruce Danielson and Mr. Frank Wells are directing the show, along with Jen Danielson doing the choreography and Mr. David Lumley doing the pit orchestra preparation.

• The Cambridge-Isanti Theater Department is participating in the Hennepin Theatre Trust’s 2011-12 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program. SpotLight is the Trust’s flagship education initiative which honors, supports and advocates for Minnesota high school musical theatre students and programs.
