Karen Jean Hoppe, 65, of Ham Lake, passed away Oct. 23, 2011 after a courageous 7 year battle with breast cancer.
Karen was born in September 1946 to Irene and Gerson Fetter of Marion, Wis. Karen was an active volunteer at her church, and instructor for ESL, certified braillist and coordinated the Braille and Tape Ministry of the ELCA for 22 years. Karen enjoyed bird watching, road trips, Packer victories, riding her John Deere, talking on the phone, reading and a good Bloody Mary on Friday evenings.
She is preceded in death by both her parents. Karen is survived by husband, John; daughter, Dana (Mike) Connor of Belmont, N.C.; son, William (Anna) Hoppe of Richfield, Minn.; 4 grandchildren, Amelia and Eli Connor and Liam and Natalya Hoppe; brother, Ronald (Kathy) Fetter of Marion, Wis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in East Bethel, 19001 Jackson Street NE, and also 1 hour before the service. A Christian Service will be held Friday, Oct. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Saviours. Burial will follow the service at the old Our Saviours church (Chapel) cemetery located in Ham Lake. Memorials are to be directed to the Meditation Garden of Our Saviours. So long to a very classy lady.
