Food writer, restaurant critic to visit Cambridge
Beth Dooley will hold a book signing for new cookbook, “The Northern Heartland Kitchen”
Scout & Morgan Books and City Center Market welcome Minnesota chef, food writer and restaurant critic Beth Dooley on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate the release of her new cookbook, “The Northern Heartland Kitchen.”
“The Northern Heartland Kitchen” presents delicious and practical solutions to the challenge of eating locally in the upper Midwest. Celebrating the region’s chefs, farmers, ranchers, gardeners, and home cooks, this essential guide presents delicious recipes alongside the stories and compelling research that illustrate how eating well and eating locally are truly one and the same.
City Center Market’s Deli will prepare some of Beth’s delicious recipes for sampling while Beth discusses how to make the most of our region’s local foods, tips for growing your own foods, and making the most of a CSA (community supported agriculture) and your local farmer’s market. Come early and visit the Cambridge Farmer’s Market as local growers offer a bounty of fall produce.
Dooley has covered the local food scene in the Northern Heartland for 25 years. She is the restaurant critic for Mpls. St. Paul Magazine, writes for the Taste section of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and appears regularly on KARE 11 television in the Twin Cities area. She is coauthor with Lucia Watson of “Savoring the Seasons of the Northern Heartland” (Minnesota, 2004) and teaches cooking classes at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and three sons.
