Robert Henry Rasmussen
Bob was born Nov. 24, 1926 in Rock Creek, Minn. to parents Jorgen and Marie (Mikkelsen) Rasmussen. Born the third of five children, Bob attend District 15 country school in rural Pine City. He left school in the 8th grade to help his parents on the family farm. In his late 20s Bob spent a memorable summer working for the Railroad laying track, while keeping up the farm chores. Bob took over the farm from his parents and continued to milk cows and raise crops until he sold the farm in the early 1980s. He moved to a house in Rock Creek and lived there until 1992, when along with help from this nephew Larry, he built a smaller house, just down the road, where he resided until his death.
After his mother’s death in 1985, Bob was encouraged by his family and friends to spend the winter months in Arizona. For the next 22 years, Bob wintered in Apache Junction, Ariz. at the Palms Mobile Park; where he loved to play Pool, Shuffleboard, and Cards with his friends. Everywhere he went he had several scheduled nights of card playing. His favorite games were 500 and Scratch.
Bob’s favorite past times were attending farm auctions, threshing shows and swap meets while, scouting for a special part needed for his current restoration project.
