Wildcats top Bluejackets in 7AA Team Tennis

The Cambridge-Isanti girls tennis team closed the regular season with a 5-2 home loss  to Chisago Lakes Oct. 6. Kate Lentz defeated the Wildcats’ Carlson 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 Singles. At No. 1 Doubles, Amanda Hanson & Nikki Hallstrom defeated Mohr & Vitali 7-5, 6-1. At No. 2 Doubles, Roselyn Mork & Madi Booth lost in an exciting three-setter, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Bluejackets got the No. 6 seed for the 7AA South Team playoffs and had to face No. 3 seed Chisago Lakes again Monday, Oct. 10.

“We changed the lineup to try to spread our talent and win more points, but the Wildcats proved to be too much. We lost 7-0. There were some close matches, but we just couldn’t pull out wins,” said Coach Lee Orvik.

In Tuesday’s  second round, the  Wildcats were defeated by No. 2 Forest Lake  7-0. Also advancing out of the 7AA South was top-seed Elk River. Grand Rapids and Duluth East are the top two seeds in the 7AA North.

• The Bluejackets season continues in 7AA South Individual action Oct. 12 at St. Francis.
