Warrior Soccer stays on hot streak
On Alumni Weekend at Cambridge Christian School, the Warrrior soccer club showed its skils in a 4-2 victory over visiting Immanuel Lutheran Saturday morning.
Playing into the strong wind in the first half, Justin Roble got things started by blasting a long shot just under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead which stood at halftime. In the second half, Sophie Morris, Jack Swenson and Bill Enos kept Immanuel at bay with more CCS goals.
“I am impressed with the patience that we have shown. Whether moving the ball side to side or support passing, the Warriors have trusted each other very well,” analyzed CCS Coach John Newton. “I am also impressed with how well we have picked each other up. We have lost two key starters to injuries, and the Warriors have not missed a beat.”
That afternoon, the Warriors took on Alumni on the CCS pitch.
“The Alumni Game was a great time! We had 26 alumni come and had graduating classes from 1987-2010 represented,” said Coach Newton. “The alumni lost 4-2 to the Warriors of present, but it was an excellent time, and we all had fun.”
• On Oct. 10, CCS improved to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the CAL with a 7-1 final home win over Foreston. David Fryc scored two goals in the first three minutes of the second half en route to a hat trick. Wold added 2 goals, with solo goals from Ellie Werlein and Enos.
