River of Life expresses appreciation to fire departments

Dear Editor:

On behalf of River of Life Church, I wish to express our thanks to the Cambridge Fire Department for the successful burn of our old building. Earlier this summer, training was done by various fire departments and by our local county sheriff’s department.

Saturday’s burn was a win-win solution to a building that was structurally failing. The building provided a unique training opportunity on a large, multi-level structure for the Cambridge, Braham and Dalbo Fire Departments. The conditions during the burn made the training more valuable because it represented what is often faced on a true fire call.

The burn reduced the cost of demolition and removal for our church family. River of Life intends to build a new church on the property. Currently, we are meeting just south of Dairy Queen and before the BP Station on Main Street in Cambridge.

Thank you Chief Sean Okerlund, Officers Lucas Milz and Nick Shatek for your contact and preparation with us that began six months ago and to each firefighter on site during the final burn. Thank you to the Isanti County Sheriff’s Department and Cambridge Police Department for keeping traffic and neighborhoods safe during the burn.
