Bluejacket Football was shut out by St. Michael-Albertville 14-0 Oct. 7 while being limited to 168 total yards. The Knights broke the ice with a 70-yard TD pass from Krutzig to Wiese late in the second quarter and added a Bennie Wilson 2-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
Clayton Jennissen led the C-I offense with 45 rushing yards and 73 yards on 6-of-9 passing. Trent Chromy worked for 14 tackles against the Knights, including 1 sack and 2.5 tackles-for-losses. Erik Lindgren and Jennissen both added 8 tackles.
“The defense has really started to trust the scheme and trust each other. We still need to tackle better, but have shown improvements over the past couple of weeks,” said Coach Mike Hennen.
The Bluejackets get a final regular-season home game against Becker this Friday. It will be the teams’ last meeting in the well-played rivalry since the Bulldogs will be moving to the Granite Ridge Conference next season.
“We need to play consistently for the entire game and cut down on penalties,” said Coach Hennen of his team goals for the game. “We haven’t turned the ball over on offense the past two games which is a vast improvement from the beginning of the year. We also need to create more turnovers.”
Then on Oct. 19, the Jackets will try to spoil host Rogers’ perfect record in the M-8.
