Bomber Football goes to 6-0

WEEKEND SPORTS: Braham led 43-0 at the half and went on to defeat visiting Crosby-Ironton 49-16 in a GPFA Blue Division football match-up Oct. 7. Tyler Vaughan scored touchdowns on runs of 34 and 55 yards, plus he returned an interception 63 yards and a fumble 47 yards for two more TDs. Nick Mattson (12-yard reception), Cory Ambrose (5-yard run and 4-yard reception) also scored touchdowns in the rout. Vaughan led the offense with 144 yards on the ground and 107 passing yards on 8-for-9 throwing.

St. Michael-Albertville 14, Cambridge-Isanti Football 0

The Bluejackets got shut out by the Knights at home Oct. 7 while being limited to 168 total yards. STMA broke the ice with a 70-yard TD pass from Krutzig to Wiese late in the second quarter and added a Bennie Wilson 2-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Midfiedler Justin Roble (9) celebrated with his Warrior teammates after blasting home a 35-yard goal into the wind against Immanuel Lutheran on Saturday.

Cambridge Christian Soccer 4, Immanuel Lutheran 2

It was “Alumni Weekend” at Cambridge Christian School this past Friday and Saturday. Mixed among the events was a 4-2 victory Warrior Soccer pitched over Immanuel at the school Saturday morning. Justin Roble’s long blast had CCS ahead 1-0 at the half. Sophie Morris, Jack Swenson and bill Enos added goals in the second half.

Cambridge-Isanti Volleyball at Apple Valley Invite

The Bluejackets went 1-3 to take 11th place at the stacked Apple Valley Invite Friday- Saturday. The C-I girls defeated Rochester John Marshall 28-26, 25-19 in their final match of the tourney. The Jackets’ losses came at the hands of Maple Grove (25-22, 25-18), Kasson-Mantorville (25-12, 25-17) and Mounds View (25-23, 23-25, 15-11).

Braham Volleyball 4th at own Bomber Invite

At Saturday’s Bomber Invite, Braham opened with a 25-9, 25-19 loss to tough Albany, then the Bombers rang up a 25-19, 26-24 win over Pine City and a 25-16, 25-22 win over Princeton in pool play.

In the 3rd-place match, GRC rival Rush City hit past Braham 27-25, 15-25, 15-10.
