Iris Henry

Iris Henry, 64, of Bethel died on her birthday October 1, 2011 at her home after a battle with cancer. 

Iris Elaine Henry was born Oct. 1, 1947 in Flint, Mich. to Mike and Alice (Jubar) Davis. She was raised and attended school in the Flint area. On Oct. 13, 1964 she married David Henry and they made their first home in Flint. David served several years in the military so they would live in several locations. They later lived in Coon Rapids and Blaine before moving to Bethel in December of 1990. Iris was an active member of First Baptist Church in St. Francis serving in many capacities. She was a Sunday School teacher, worked with Awana, enjoyed the Bible Studies and going with the Golden Gems Seniors group at church.  Iris especially enjoyed her grandchildren and all of the family activities. She also enjoyed quilting, collecting lighthouses and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister, Doris Soppko. Iris is survived by her husband, David of Bethel; son, Robert (Amy) Henry of Marion, North Dakota; 3 grandchildren, Katie Lewis, David and Sophia Henry; 6 sisters, Gertrude Chonard, Norma McMurphy, Arlene (Louis) Kitson, Barbara (Clair) Kitson, Janet (Donald) Pollendar, Lorretta Collins; and by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at First Baptist Church in St. Francis with Rev. James Snow officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and also one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. The vocalists are Don Gibson, Jeremy Bolles, James Emery, Micah Sweeden and the Engsminger Family. Becky Friese will serve as pianist. The pallbearers are David C. Henry, Robert Henry, David Henry, Rev. Steve Brower, Dana Ridge and Rob Ammerman. Interment is in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
