Bombers sweep Huskies
THURSDAY NIGHT SPORTS: Braham Volleyball put together a strong night of serving and defense to defeat visiting Isle 25-12, 25-17, 25-17 in a Great River match Sept. 29, part of the Homecoming action at Braham this week.
Kelsey Sorenson-Giffrow served in eight straight points to propel the Bombers in Game 1. Kayla White, Kayla Nickles, Sara Tomlinson and Becca Dahlman all ran strings of more solid serves in Game 2.
The Huskies put up their best fight in Game 3, pulling to within 16-14, but the Bomber defense reinvigorated to help setters Briana Richmond and Carley Lynch find the hitters. Dahlman closed out the match with a blistering kill at the net.
The victory has the Bombers sitting at 2-0 in the Great River Conference (10-5 overall). On deck, Braham has two big GRC road matches (at Onamia Oct. 4, at Ogilvie Oct. 6).
St. Michael-Albertville defeats C-I Volleyball
The Bluejackets fought in each game, but Mississippi 8 defending champ St. Michael-Albertville swept the Sept. 29 match 25-21, 25-23, 25-20.
Rogers posts two M-8 soccer wins over Bluejackets
Thursday night, the Rogers girls soccer team defeated host Cambridge-Isanti 3-1. The Royals boys squad blanked the Jackets at home 9-0.
Becker 4, C-I Girls Tennis 3
A wild and windy day on the CIHS courts saw the visiting Bulldogs slip past the Bluejackets 4-3. The Mississippi 8 Singles & Doubles tourney will be hosted this Saturday at Monticello.

The defending conference champ Magic kept rolling this season with a M-8 road victory over the Bluejackets.
