St. Paul Swedish Male Chorus at Fish Lake Lutheran

The St. Paul Swedish Male Chorus begins its 131st continuous concert season with a performance at Fish Lake Lutheran Church on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. during morning worship.

Each performance is an enduring tribute to the heritage of our many members that have come before and given us a model of steadfast service and dedication to the chorus. The purpose of the chorus is to preserve, promote and cultivate Swedish culture, language and music through song. The chorus is always open to new members, and new singing opportunities.

Following the concert will be a pie/dessert social. There is no charge to attend this event; a freewill offering will be taken. All are welcome.

Fish Lake Lutheran Church is located in Harris, (1/4 mile south of Stark) at 43353 Cedarcrest Trail (Co. Rd. 8). For more info, call the church at 651-674-4252 or visit www.fishlakelutheran.org.

Blessing of the Animals at Spring Lake Lutheran

All animals (and their owners) are invited to receive a special blessing at Spring Lake Lutheran Church. They will gather in the church parking lot on Sunday, Oct. 2 at noon. Pets of all shapes and sizes are welcome.

St. Francis of Assisi (12th Century) loved animals and told them that Jesus loved them, too. In honor of this saint, they will gather with the animals they love and give thanks for what they do for us and for what they mean for us. Invite your neighbors and friends and their pets to come to this very special service.

You are welcome to join them for worship. The Contemporary Service begins at 8:30 a.m., the Education and Fellowship Hour is at 9:30 a.m. and the Traditional Service is at 10:30 a.m.

Spring Lake Lutheran is located 9 miles east of Cambridge on Hwy. 95, then one block north on Erickson Road. For information, call the church office at 651-674-4606 or email sll.church@gmail.com.

Spelmanslag-Swedish Fiddlers to perform at Trinity North Branch

Trinity Lutheran Church North Branch continues celebrating 125 years with a special service Sunday, Oct., 9 at 2 p.m. featuring Spelmanslag-Swedish Fiddlers.

Everyone is invited to hear Spelmanstag—a group of Swedish fiddlers from the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis who play a variety of ethnic pieces, primarily from the province of Dalarna. Dressed in traditional Swedish clothing, this is an amazing group of musicians. This event honors the strong Swedish background of those founding fathers of Trinity and is a way to retain the connection of the past while looking to the future. If you have not heard this group, get ready for a real musical treat. It will be a lively time. Trinity is located at the intersection of Lincoln Trail and Hwy. 14 on the east side of North Branch
