Donald Emanuel Anderson was born April 17, 1938 in Stanchfield Township to Raynold and Ethel (Nystrom) Anderson. He was raised in the Stanchfield area by his mother, Ethel, and step-father, John Paulson. Don served in the Air Force from 1955 – 1959. On Oct. 17, 1959 he married Judy M. Okerstrom. They made their home in the Isanti community. Don was employed by the Ford Motor Company in St. Paul and was a member of Local Union UAW 879. He retired from Ford in October of 1991. Don especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, deer hunting and taking road trips with his wife Judy on spur of the moment rides.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julie Rae and his wife, Judy, on April 18, 2009 and brothers, Marvin Anderson and Bruce Paulson. Don is survived by 8 children, Debbra A. Dawson of Coon Rapids, Sandra J. Larson of Cambridge, Chris D. Anderson of Isanti, Todd E. Anderson of Isanti, Rick B. (Dana) Anderson of Cambridge, Scott L. Anderson of Nashwauk, Dawn M. (Brandon) Bergman of North Branch, Troy J. Anderson of Isanti; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Duane Anderson (Linda) of Oregon, Richard Paulson of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Lavonne Anderson of Cambridge; and by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Stanchfield Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Cope officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Biggins, Neil Brown, Dale Erickson, Eddie Zutz. Pallbearers are Brendon “BJ” Paulson, David and Tom Ahlman, Joey Linder, Dean and Mark Okerstrom and Rodney Pieper. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and also 1 hour before the service on Friday at the church.
