Visiting foes sweep at CIHS

Senior Roxanne Holmberg and her Bluejacket defense colleagues were kept active by Buffalo's fast passing in the 4-1 loss Sept. 15.

Buffalo 4, Cambridge-Isanti Girls Soccer 1

The quick Bison scored two unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the host Bluejackets Sept. 15. Tiffany Krueger netted C-I’s lone score late in the first half off a free kick, cutting the team’s deficit to 2-1. The Bluejackets are now 2-1 in the Mississippi 8, 2-5-1 overall.

Becker 3, Cambridge-Isanti Volleyball 2

The Bulldogs eked out a Mississippi 8 victory over the host Bluejackets Sept. 15: 25-23, 18-25, 25-21, 20-25, 19-17. C-I is now 0-2 in the conference (5-5 all).

St. Michael-Alb. 99, Cambridge-Isanti Girls Swim/Dive 82

The Knights opened an early 10-point lead and kept rolling past the Bluejackets in the Sept. 15 Mississippi opener at CIHS. C-I senior Katie McCann’s win in the 50 Freestyle snapped a streak of three straight 1st places STMA gathered.

Buffalo 7, Cambridge-Isanti Boys Soccer 0

Cambridge-Isanti suffered a shut out in the boys’ first conference match, evening their overall record at 2-2.

 

C-I Boys Cross Country 3rd at St. Francis

The Bluejacket boys scored 93 points to place 3rd at the Sept. 15 St. Francis Invitational. Fleet Forest Lake won easily with 29 points, followed by Benilde-St. Margaret’s at 89 among the 12 boys teams racing.

The Jacket girls finished 7th with 146 points at St. Francis. Elk River held off Robbinsdale Cooper 41-49 to take the girls’ title.
