Jr. Hockey: Owls home opener this weekend
The Minnesota Owls will begin their fourth season playing at the Isanti County Area David C. Johnson Civic Arena with an event-filled weekend Sept. 17-18. The Owls are one of eight teams playing in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League this season.
For opening weekend, the Owls will go up against a new team in the MNJHL, the Dells Ducks, based out of the Wisconsin Dells. The Owls will be aiming to improve on their 4th-place finish in the league last winter.
Kicking off the 2011-12 season is a tailgate party from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday before the game. Free hot dogs & drinks, player autographs and live local band Cloud 10 will be draws. The game against the Ducks then begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday’s game will be a 2 p.m. matinee.
The Minnesota Owls offically get the season underway Friday, Sept. 16 at the Maple Grove Energy (7:05 p.m.).
