North Country Hillbillys Car & Truck Show Sept. 10

The 6th Annual North Country Hillbillys Car & Truck Show will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Braham Covenant Church.

• Prize Drawings throughout the day

• Participate in the “Valve Cover Race” and the “Slow Ride Race”

• Muffler Rap Contest at 3 p.m.

• Featuring Live Bluegrass Gospel Music hosted by the Braham Covenant Church

There is no entry fee; however, non-perishable food items for the local food shelf are encouraged. Last year’s event raised just over 357 pounds of much needed food for the local food shelf.

Pork Chop Dinner at Christ the King

The Cambridge Knights of Columbus Christ the King Council 12183 will be sponsoring the annual “Pork Chop Dinner” again this year. The dinner will be held Sunday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Catholic Parish Hall.

Adults are $9, children 6-12 $6, and children 5 and under are free. Besides the dinner, there will be a bake sale, silent auction (concludes at 1:15 p.m.), and Kids Carnival.


Rally Sunday is Sept. 11 at Salem Lutheran Church

Children and youth are invited to come for “Rally Sunday,” the beginning of Sunday School, on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo.

Preschool age children up to middle school age youth are welcome to come for an opening worship time followed by carnival games and great fun! Stay for worship after at 10 a.m. Following worship visitors will enjoy a potluck meal and fellowship time in the Fellowship hall.

Backpack Blessing, games and potluck at Spring Lake Lutheran Rally Sunday

Spring Lake Lutheran has planned a festive time for Sunday, Sept. 11 to kick-off the new year, and invite all to join them.

All students and teachers are invited to bring their backpacks and school bags to church for a special blessing as they return to school. The All-Congregation Worship Service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Following the service, the festivities begin with lawn games, a ‘bouncer,’ ladder ball and more. At 11 a.m., all are invited to a potluck dinner.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s fall festival is Sept. 18

Sacred Heart Catholic Church is having a Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The public is invited to join for a fun day at 415 W. 5th St. in Rush City, Minn.

The Liturgical Celebration will start at 9 a.m. with Bishop Lee Piche presiding. They will serve Brass Rail chicken with all the fixings from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be many fun activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which will include many children’s and adult games, live music, silent auction items and a raffle which includes five great items: Flat screen TV, Wii Game System, $300 cash, Kindle and $100 gift card from Chilson Jewelers. Tickets are available at the Sacred Heart Parish House (Tuesday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or at Fabric, Fashions, and More, 485 S. Dana Avenue, in Rush City.


Silent Auction fundraiser at Christian Women’s Connection Luncheon

All women of the community are invited to come to the “Silent Auction” sponsored by the Cambridge Women’s Connection on Monday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m.

They would love to have you donate hand craned items, home canned and baked goods, specialty baskets, collectibles, antiques and fresh produce or whatever special item you may have.

Have your donations at the Cambridge Methodist Church, 404 N. Cypress St., before 11 a.m. on the day of the event. This is their fundraiser to help make a brighter Christmas for Village Missions and Stonecroft Missions. Viewing and bidding will be from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. This is your chance to help others.

The always popular, Marie Grundberg, will entertain with special music, including “The Auctioneer’s Song.” A luncheon will be served and Colleen Keen of Monroe, Wis. will be speaking on “An Award Winning Recipe for Life.”

Spelmanslag: Swedish fiddlers play Sept. 25 at Salem Lutheran Church

You are invited to come to hear “Spelmanslag,” a group of Swedish fiddlers from the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. during Salem’s Harvest Festival.

Dressed in traditional Swedish clothing, this is an amazing group of musicians. If you haven’t heard them, get ready for a real musical treat! There will be a free will offering that night and pie and refreshments afterwards.
