Local Farmers’ Markets

Ongoing: Cambridge Farmers’ Market takes place on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the City Center Market’s parking lot. Master Gardeners join us again this year to answer any questions. Isanti Farmers’ Market is on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Riverside Market Grocery Store parking lot.

Free Community Dinner, Bread Distribution

Thursday, Sept. 1: A free community dinner and bread distribution, also featuring free clothing and household needs, will be held from 5:30 -7 p.m. It’s hosted by Cambridge UPC Church, 210 10th Ave SW, Cambridge, (renting the Seventh Day Adventist Church). 2nd Annual Elders Party

Friday, Sept. 9: The 2nd Annual Elders Party will be held at 5 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 28168 Jodrell St. NE in North Branch. The public is invited to join this free event where brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, beans and drinks will be served. Guests may bring a dish to share if they wish.

Benefit for Chip Imker Family

Saturday, Sept. 10: A benefit for the family of Fallen Firefighter Chip Imker will be held from 3-10 p.m. at the Cambridge Fire Hall. There will be kids’ games, bounce house, face painting, silent auction, dunk tank, food, beer and wine garden, live music featuring Whiskey Tango and more. Event sponsored by the Cambridge Firefighter Relief Association, Northbound Liquor and Thrivent Financial.

Athens Township Picnic

Saturday, Sept. 10: Come on out to the Athens Township Picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will have Jurassic Park Survivor and Bouncy Boxing from Game World for kids’ entertainment, plus other attractions. Get a character sketch from Dan, enjoy live music by Doyle Peck, and get to know your neighbors while you enjoy a free picnic lunch in Collin Park located next to the Town Hall, on 261st Ave. N.E. (1/2 mile west of Hwy. 65).

9-11 Remembrance & Public Servant Day

Sunday, Sept. 11: A 9-11 Remembrance & Public Servant Day Ceremony will be held at the Isanti VFW #2735 beginning at 8:45 a.m. Come meet and thank our public servants and shake the hand of a local fire fighter or police officer. There will also be a Silent Auction, Hot Dogs on the Grill, Face Painting, and more. Show your Civil Service, FD or PD employee ID and get a free hot dog and chips. East Central Minnesota PFLAG Monthly Meeting

Sunday, Sept. 11: East Central Minnesota PFLAG (parents, family and friends of lesbians and gays) will hold their monthly meeting at 4 p.m. at the ARC Retreat Center, 1680 373rd Ave. NW in Stanchfield. For directions and more information, call 612-390-6122.

Pork Chop Dinner

Sunday, Sept. 11: The Cambridge Knights of Columbus Christ the King Council 12183 will sponsor the annual “Pork Chop Dinner.” The dinner will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Catholic Parish Hall. Adults are $9, children 6-12 $6, and children 5 and under are free. Besides the dinner, there will be a bake sale, silent auction (concludes at 1:15 p.m.), and Kids Carnival.

Medicare Highlights Workshop

Monday, Sept. 12: A Medicare Highlights workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at GracePointe Crossing in the Gables West chapel, 135 Fern St. N. in Cambridge. Lynda Hayek from East Central Senior Resource Center will present important information about Medicare. Whether you are new to Medicare or in need of more information, you are welcome to participate. Fundraiser for The ABC Theatre Company

Saturday, Sept. 17: A taco/fajita bar will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Spectacular Events Banquet Center in Isanti. Cost is $8, with proceeds benefitting The ABC Theatre Company, which is producing The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe to be performed Oct. 27, 28 and 29.

Cambridge Drift Dusters Open House

Saturday, Sept. 17: From 4 to 6 p.m., the public is invited to attend the open house for the Cambridge Drift Dusters, a family-oriented snowmobile club serving the Cambridge and Isanti area. It are a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers who are dedicated to improving and maintaining the Isanti County Snowmobile Trail System as well as educating the public on snowmobile safety. Hot dogs and beverages will be served and guests can come see the club house.
