Cambridge Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of two physician specialists to its medical staff.
Karen Truitt, DO, is a board certified neurologist. She received her medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and completed her internal medicine internship, adult neurology residency, and clinical neurophysiology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. She has a special medical interest in epilepsy and specialized neurology testing, including EEG and EMG, which help diagnose neurological conditions. “I am intrigued by the nervous system and enjoy working with patients with neurological issues,” says Dr. Truitt. Dr. Truitt has a broad medical background. Before becoming a physician, she was a pharmacist and worked in a remote area in Arizona on the Navajo reservation. “This was an exciting and interesting experience,” says Dr. Truitt.
Dr. Truitt joins fellow neurologist Jane Achenbach, MD, in offering neurology consultation and treatment at Cambridge Medical Center. The medical center recently opened a new clinic space dedicated solely to neurology patients.
Like Dr. Truitt, psychiatrist Taimur Malik, MD, also holds multiple advanced degrees. Dr. Malik received his master’s degree in public health administration from the University of Minnesota. He attended medical school in Pakistan and completed his psychiatry residency at Hennepin County Medical Center, Regions Hospital, and the University of Minnesota. He also completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Minnesota and received additional fellowship training at Columbia University. Dr. Malik is board certified in psychiatry. Prior to coming to Cambridge Medical Center, Dr. Malik completed clinical research at the University of Minnesota and was in practice at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Both Dr. Truitt and Dr. Malik are looking forward to practicing medicine at Cambridge Medical Center and welcome the opportunity to work with patients from this area.
