Isanti County Sportsmen’s Club to benefit from lawful gambling proceeds

By Elizabeth Sias

The Isanti County Sportsmen’s Club will soon benefit from gambling activities at a local restaurant.

During the Isanti County Board of Commissioners meeting Aug. 17, the Board approved the premises permit for lawful gambling activities at Raven’s, formerly called the Smokehouse, located at 30539 Highway 47 NW in Cambridge.

Chief Executive Officer Larry Larson and Gambling Manager James Fridstrom indicated on the permit application that the restaurant will offer pull-tabs, tipboards, paddlewheel and bar bingo.

Under the permit, the club consents that local law enforcement officers, the Board and the commissioners of revenue or public safety may enter and inspect the premises, and that the bank records of the gambling account may be inspected whenever necessary to fulfill requirements of current gambling rules and law.

In other action, the board:

• Approved the request from Family Services to purchase computers. The total cost of the 13 new Dell computers and three-year Norton Internet Security licenses is $16,747.

• Accepted the CVSO Operational Improvement Grant of $4,200 from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA).
