Elaine’s Flowers under new ownership

The key to the front door may have changed hands at Elaine’s Flowers and Gifts in Isanti, but the new owner wants to keep tradition going.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Aug. 19, marked the grand opening of Elaine’s under the new ownership of Holly and Dave Cedarblade.
“I’m excited to have a family business, because my guys are all teenagers, so they help out and it’s nice to have something we can all participate in,” Holly said.
The local couple purchased the flower and gift shop from Elaine Strike and took over at the beginning of July.
“It’s a business where you have to work really hard,” Holly said. “The good thing is you kind of get to make people’s day, even if it’s something for sympathy, you’re still doing something nice for them, and that’s a nice thing to be able to do every day.”
Holly didn’t have a background in floristry, but has been taking classes at Koehler & Dramm’s Institute of Floristry in Minneapolis.
With the name recognition of a shop that’s been in Isanti over 40 years, Holly has no plans to change the name.
Along with classes, she’s been working with Elaine and the employees to learn flower arranging.
In the long run, Holly hopes to open another location or two, possibly in Cambridge or St. Francis. For now, her goal is to keep the business running strong and let people in the community know it’s there.
“A lot of people in town don’t know we’re here,” she said. “We’re a full-service florist, so we’d like to be their first call when they need flowers sent or delivered—anything at all. We’d just like to expand the business and be a lot busier and have everybody know we’re here.”
Elaine’s has fresh cut flowers, green plants and artificial flowers, and they can provide flower arrangements for weddings, sympathy and more.
The business also delivers within a 30 mile radius. It is open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The store can be reached at 763-444-4022.
