Gordon Clinton Larson was born April 3, 1921 in Cambridge to Gunnard and Magda (Kron) Larson. He was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. He then attended Shakopee Trade School and became a certified welder. Gordon moved to San Diego, California and worked for Consolidated Aircraft and then in the shipyards building ships. Gordon moved back to Minnesota and the Twin Cities. He worked as a welder for Electric Machinery until his retirement. Gordon was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Cambridge. He enjoyed traveling and he traveled worldwide both with tours and on his own. Gordon always came back to the family farm near Cambridge where he enjoyed helping on the farm. He started to contour farm the hillsides like he saw on his travels.
Gordon is survived by his sister-in-law, Doris Larson of California; 5 nieces and nephews, Marian (Russell) Enabnit of Iowa, David (Maggie) Larson of Isanti, Daniel Larson of Minneapolis, Steven (Sharlyn) Larson of California, John (Angela) Larson of Cambridge; and by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held August 22, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Len Ochowicz officiating. Arlene Wallin was the organist. Pallbearers were Matt Cheney, Matt Ellingson, David, John, Matt and Tim Larson. Interment was in Cambridge Union Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel.
