An Isanti man has been charged with two counts of felony first degree, criminal sexual conduct.

Gene Truman Cox, 54, appeared before Judge James Dehn Aug. 9 in 10th Judicial District Court in Cambridge where he was charged with two counts of felony first degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under the age of 16—where the defendant is a person in a position of authority, and has a significant relationship to the victim.

According to the criminal complaint, Cox went to the Isanti Police Department the night of Aug. 6, and stated he had inappropriately touched a minor, and this was the first time anything like this had happened. The conduct took place inside an Isanti residence.

The complaint also stated when the victim and her mother met for a forensic interview and examination on Aug. 7, the victim stated the Aug. 6 incident wasn’t the first time the defendant had inappropriate conduct with her.

On Aug. 9, Judge Dehn set bail at $100,000 without conditions or $30,000 with conditions and his next court appearance for Aug. 17.
