Herriet Ramona Claypool

Herriet Ramona Claypool, 80, of Braham, Minn., passed away August 12, 2011 at Cambridge Medical Center.

Ramona was born March 23, 1931 to Herbert and Hilma Martinson in Pelican Rapids, Minn. She was the second of 4 children. She attended different schools before the family moved to Underwood, Minn. where she attended and graduated from Underwood High School.

She was united in marriage to Merrill R. Claypool April 2, 1949 in Maine, Minn. Ramona and Merrill had four children. They moved to a few different areas before settling in the Ham Lake, Minn. area where they raised their family. After Merrill’s retirement the couple bought an old house in the Maple Ridge area of Isanti County where it was Ramona’s dream to remodel their own home. That kept them both occupied but Ramona always found time to work and do volunteer work in the area. She worked as a cook at the Isanti Co. jail into her 70s. Both Merrill and Ramona volunteered at the local food shelf. Ramona also volunteered at Park Manor and Tusen Tack in Braham. Ramona loved bowling and introduced Merrill to this after his retirement. She also loved gardening, was a fantastic cook and did sewing and knitting and much reading.

Ramona’s first passion was her family which included extended family as well. Everyone was joyfully welcomed at her home and no one ever left her house hungry.

She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Hilma Martinson, and granddaughter Bonnie Michelle Wallace.

She is survived by her husband Merrill of Braham, Minn.; sons Don (Laurie) of Itasca, Ill., Doug (Lislie) of Blaine, Minn., Richard (Linda) of Bemidji, Minn.; and daughter Diane (Mike) Wallace of Braham, Minn.; grandchildren Brian (Tanya) Wallace of Braham, Minn.; Bruce (Melissa) Wallace of Ogilvie, Minn.; Adam (Charla) Claypool of St. Louis, Mo.; Shane Claypool of Bemidji, Corrin Claypool of Edina, Minn.; Mackenzie Claypool of Blaine, Minn., Amy Claypool of Brainerd, Minn.; and Meg Claypool of Mankato, Minn.; great grandchildren Austin, Terrance, Alexzander, Onnicka, Allii, and Gracia; 1 brother Harlow (Betty) Martinson, and 2 sisters Dorothy Peterson and Olive Marolt; and many special nephews and nieces.
