Welcome to the 2011 Isanti County Fair

The 134th Annual Isanti County Fair runs from Wednesday, July 20 through Sunday, July 24, and is once again packed full of new and exciting events and entertainment.

Opening day on Wednesday has been designated as “Military Appreciation Day” and the Isanti County Fair wishes to recognize Military service members and all veterans offering free admission for all service members and veterans in honor of their service to our country. Opening Ceremonies and Flag Raising will begin at 6 p.m. at the Legion Building.

New attractions this year will be a Truck Pull and Mutton Bustin’ in the grandstand.  In addition, the fair will be providing good family entertainment throughout the week with Pig Races.  With locally grown pigs, they will be racing several times a day near the Pig Barn. New competitions in the Open Class Department will be a Chili Cook-off on Saturday and BBQ Rib competition on Sunday.

Returning this year is Tommy’s Jungle Zoo with his Alligator, Iguana, Camel, Kangaroo and many other exotic animals, Tommy’s Zoo is an educational ‘hands on’ exhibit which makes learning come alive to both children and adults.  Also returning, the Halls of Magic, will perform amazing feats of magic several times daily in the Kennel Shelter Thursday through Sunday.  Kevin and Janet Hall, featured on national TV’s ‘Americas Got Talent’ in June of 2011, will blow you away with their fast paced magic and illusion show. For those looking for an exciting challenge, ‘Brutus’ the mechanical bull will be returning. Located near the Beer Garden, there will be special competitions for individuals and teams with awards and prizes.

On Saturday afternoon, the Isanti County Fair will again be the site of the 2nd Annual Tractor Driving Competition. With an obstacle course set up to challenge the most confident farmer, local celebrities and neighboring Fairboard Officials compete for the trophy while backing, hitching, and maneuvering.

Bandshell Entertainment

Bandshell Entertainment this year includes the Krisis Band on Wednesday evening with the Mystery Mountain Boys with Bluegrass on Thursday evening. Friday night the Hitchville Band will be making its debut with high energy country rock along with another new country band; the Lost Highway Band featuring country rock will be providing great dance music on Saturday evening. Sunday morning the Isanti County Fair will start the day with a Contemporary Church Service. Following the service, The Nieghberz Band will take to the stage and entertain

until the Talent Contest which starts later this year at 3 p.m.

Remember that Sunday is “Family Day” at the fair with admission to the fair ½ price until 10 a.m., free Corn Feed starting at 11 a.m., and Wristband Day at the Midway starts at noon and runs until 5 p.m.

Returning fair favorites to the fair include the opportunity to board one of the Stillwater Trolley’s for free rides around the beautiful grounds, Children’s Farmyard, Pony Rides, Bingo, Beer Garden, along with 4-H, WSCA, and O-Mok-See Horseshows. On

Sunday, the Twin Cities Model Boat Club will be returning with their R/C boat races and the Annual Isanti County Fair Car Show will be adding some  excitement with ‘burn-out’ exhibitions and competitions throughout the day in addition to trophies and awards for the many beautiful classic cars and trucks.
