Redbirds beat Hinckley, host All-Star game
Isanti remained undefeated in Eastern Minny action with a 7-3 victory over Hinckley on July 15. Joe Ramberg threw nine strong innings, racking up 9 strikeouts while allowing 7 hits against the Knights.
Packy Lind led the offense with a 4-for-5 night, stroking 2 doubles and gathering 4 RBI. D.J. Lind added 3 hits and a walk, scoring 2 runs. Matt Duong also ripped a pair of doubles, and B.J. Samuelson coaxed 3 walks and scored 3 runs for the Redbirds.
The July 18 home game with Hinckley was postponed due to the heat and will be made up on Sunday, July 24 (7 p.m.).
Eastern Minny All-Star action at Isanti
The annual Eastern Minny League All-Star Game was hosted Sunday, July 17 in Isanti. Each EML squad sent six players to participate in this year’s game. Teams were divided up with one team being coached by Mora’s Jay Pautzke and Isanti’s Steve Allen and the other team coached by Princeton’s Jake Maros and Hinckley’s Tim Burkhardt. The Maros/Burkhardt team won 6-5, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the last inning.
Brian Schultz, Kyle Johnson, Packy Lind, Joe Ramberg, Bud Heifort and Adam West represented the Isanti Redbirds. Maros, last year’s Home Run Contest winner, won the contest again this year; Heifort finished in 2nd place.

Bandits battle against Ham Lake
Rum River dropped its lone Metro Minny game last week 11-8 to Ham Lake. Patrick Larson pitched solidly with 8.3 innings of relief, allowing just 3 earned runs for the Bandits. Peter Johnson also starred by drilling a grand slam, finishing with 2 hits and 5 RBI. Travis Earls added 2 hits against the Knights.
