David Kennedy Packer was born May 24, 1925 in Lincoln, England to James and Agnes (Cunningham) Packer. He was raised in England and served 21 years in the British Army. On April 2, 1949 he married Kathleen Stott in England. In 1963 he came to the United States and settled in Spring Lake Park. On Jan. 20, 2968 he married Ione “Cookie” Cook and they made their home in Fridley. They moved to Cedar 39 years ago. David retired after 25 years from Central Engineering in St. Anthony. His hobbies and interests included woodworking, making bird houses, bird watching and doing crossword puzzles.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his 2 wives, Kathleen and “Cookie”; 1 brother and 2 sisters. David is survived by 5 children, Jeri (Chris) Woods of Tacoma, Washington, Winnie (Georgian) Banov of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Paul (Peggy) Cook of Brooklyn Park, Carrol (Ron) Lubich of Lakeville, Lyn (Jim) Holker of Brooklyn Park; by 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and by many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
