Legion Baseball Playoffs: Saints tip Cambridge

After leading most of the game, the Cambridge Legion dropped its first round playoff game 8-7 to St Francis on two unearned runs in the eighth. Pitching and hitting were strong enough to win the game, however the defense committed six physical errors along with a few more mental errors.
Ryan Miller went 6.6 innings, scattering 8 hits and striking out 4. He gave up only three earned runs. Reed Burns came on in relief in the seventh with guys on second and third with one out and struck out the next two batters, killing a Saints’ rally. He pitched 2.6 innings giving up 2 hits and racking up 3 Ks. He gave up the 2 unearned runs in the eighth taking the tough-luck loss for Post #290.

On Deck: Thursday, July 14, Cambridge will play the Round 2 game in St. Francis at 5:30 p.m. vs Hinckley who lost to Mora Wednesday eve. The winner will play at 5:30 in St. Francis on Friday; loser of the game is done for the summer.
