C-I Baseball Coach thanks community for support

Dear Editor:

The 2011 high school baseball season just came to an abrupt end. However, no sports season is complete without thanking the many people who make it a success, both on the main stage and behind the scenes. I would like to extend recognition to some people who have made this season a very successful one.

First of all, the players deserve a thank you for all of their hard work in practice and in the games. The members of this team represented our communities very well, with class on and off the field and in the classroom. Next, my assistant coaches deserve a great deal of thanks. Particularly my varsity staff of Wade Reichmann, Ryan Hajek, and volunteer Ben Sickler, who put in many hours above and beyond what is expected of them with field work, practice, and game preparation.

Also, the other coaches in the program Chad Carlson, Chris Johnson, and my middle school coaches Son Duong, Chad Filley, Phil Niemela, and Dan Sibel for their expertise, their hours of sacrifice, hard work, and dedication they put in to the program.  Additionally, I would like to thank the Diamond Club for all of their help and support all year long, particularly with the fundraising efforts that are necessary to support our program, without them our program goes without a lot of extra things.   I would like to extend a special thank you to Denny Valentyn and Lori Nelson and her family for all they do in the efforts of supporting our program with the Diamond Club, it is very much appreciated.

I would also like to recognize and give a shout out to our activities office. This was a challenging spring with the weather and Mark Solberg and Robin Schulz did an exemplary job rescheduling our games and busses and supporting us with the other various tasks that are necessary for our program to run effectively and efficiently. They always do an excellent job of making the season run smoothly with communication of schedule changes, dealing with the umpires, and organizing the facility and bus reservations for us.

It is also essential to thank the community for their support, whether through our fundraising efforts or coming to the games. The two communities and local businesses of Cambridge and Isanti are always very supportive of our athletics and activities. The media is also important to thank for their coverage all year long in both papers, the Star and the Isanti County News. In particular, Bob Theis does an amazing job of covering our games, which he has done for the last 15 years.

A final and most important thank you goes out to my wife Aaron and my daughter Addie who make countless sacrifices during the baseball season, I appreciate their love and support. I could not do it without them.

It is great to be a part of such a supporting community and an honor to be the baseball coach and will always be my distinct honor and privilege to be a Bluejacket. We will continue to work hard to uphold the standards of our community and school through what we do in the baseball program.
