Legion Baseball goes 3-2 on week
At the midway point of the summer baseball season, the Cambridge Legion is currently sitting at 5-3. The team’s busy past week began with a 10-7 home loss to Milaca June 23.
Trailing the whole game, Post #290 scored 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull within 9-7, but Milaca added a run in the seventh and quieted Cambridge in the bottom of the inning. Clayton Jennissen had 3 hits, with 2 hits each from Nick Johnson, Matt Ziebarth and Trent Chromy (2 RBI). Chromy was tagged for the loss with 5 earned runs over 3.3 innings. Nick Jellison had 7 Ks in 2.3 innings of relief.
That same evening, Cambridge was leading Braham 4-1 in the nightcap when the game was called in the fourth after the automatic sprinklers turned on. Cole Bakke struck out 11-of-14 batters he faced, giving up 2 hits. The game will be resumed at a later date.
Post #290 swept a June 27 home double-header against Chisago Lakes, winning 9-4 and 13-11.

Visiting Princeton tagged the squad with a 7-3 loss on June 28. Trent Chromy took the loss throwing 3.2 innings giving up 8 hits, 1 walk, 7 runs (1 earned) and 3 Ks
Luke McCracken was strong in relief throwing 3.1 innings giving up 4 hits and a walk, 0 runs, and 3 Ks

VFW team battles Blaine, weather postponements
The Isanti VFW baseball team had two of its games postponed due to weather last week, getting in just game– a 4-3 loss to Blaine.
Mitch Andres singled sharply up the middle to score two runs as Post #2735 tied the game at 2-2. After Blaine tacked on a run the next inning, Andres later singled home Isanti’s tying run in the sixth. Blaine won it with a well-executed squeeze play in the top of the seventh. Jake Johnson struck out 8 against the Bengals.
The VFW’s next games are a June 30 doubleheader with visiting Chisago Lakes (6/8 p.m.).
