Braham’s Caitlin Richmond competes at Class A State golf

Caitlin Richmond

Braham freshman Caitlin Richmond represented her school at the 2011 Class A girls golf finals held June 15-16 at Pebble Creek CC in Becker. Richmond fired rounds of 96 and 101 to place 48th among the 88 golfers in the tournament.

“Caitlin had a good tourney. It was fun and a learning experience. She played very well with a couple of bumps along the way,” noted Braham Coach Ed Melcher.

Senior Kelsey Ross of Osakis was the “A” girls medalist, and Lewiston-Altura was the team champs by a wide margin.

• In the Class AAA boys tourney at Bunker Hills, sophomore Max Kelly of Forest Lake held off senior McCabe Buege of Rogers by one stroke to win the State title. Forest Lake is a member of Cambridge-Isanti’s Section 7AAA. Rogers, the Mississippi 8 Conference champs, won a share of its first State title by tying Wayzata at the top of the AAA boys standings.
