“Gospel Sunday” at First Baptist Church in Cambridge, will feature Sam Butler (formerly of the Blind Boys of Alabama) and Paul Mayasich.
“Gospel Sunday” will be held Sunday, June 26, at 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
Sam Butler Jr. is a long time guitar player and vocalist for “The Blind Boys of Alabama” and is now touring to promote his newest album, a project with Clarence Fountain, a founding member of the Blind Boys.
Sam will be releasing two albums in the next few months—one a compilation album with artists such as Phil Collins and Snow Patrol honoring John Martin, and another that is a solo project called “Sam Butler and the Boys.” Sam grew up singing southern gospel music in St. Petersburg, Fla. and has been privileged to perform his music all over the world.
Paul Mayasich is a very gifted musician from the Twin Cities who performs all over Minnesota and beyond, and has had many albums released and recorded. Paul and Sam regularly play together along with Sam’s family at churches and other worship events, drawing people into worship through authentic southern gospel music.
The church feels blessed to have Sam and Paul join them at First Baptist, and welcomes the community to join for this summer worship event.
