Participate in Global Day of Prayer Sunday, June 12
By Stephanie Bushway
Prayer Coordinator, Elim Baptist Church
The Global Day of Prayer is Sunday, June 12. Our community has the opportunity to join hundreds of millions of Christians around the world in this amazing event. Attend the Global Day of Prayer Gathering at Cambridge Christian School at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 12.
The Global Day of Prayer follows the example of the early church: ten days of constant prayer leading to Pentecost, one day of prayer witnessed by the whole city, and days of blessing that followed. For these reasons, the Global Day of Prayer has three parts:
Ten days of constant prayer: June 2-11: Beginning on Ascension Day, June 2, millions of Christians will find ways to pray day and night throughout the ten days leading to Pentecost. We are asking that each church that wants to participate, sign up for one of these days to pray for 24 hours.
The Global Day of Prayer: June 12: On Pentecost Sunday, Christians in many countries will assemble to pray. In our community, we will meet at the Cambridge Christian School, 2211 Old Main Street South, Cambridge, for a time of prayer.
Ninety Days of Blessings: June 13-Sept. 10: The Global Day of Prayer website has provided a 90 day prayer guide divided into 30 days x 3 =90 days. Each church that participates in our area will sign up for one week of prayer walking in and throughout our city praying on foot at important city sites.
