Bluejacket Baseball ends season at Andover

Andover 5, C-I 0

Traveling  to the No. 4 seed Huskies on a windy Jne 3, the Bluejackets (12-10) were done in by strong pitching. Andover starter Brent Stong allowed just one base runner to reach second over his 6 innings and 2 hits total– those by Henderscheid and Burns. He struck out 10 and allowed 0 walks to help the Huskies advance.

Stong, mixing a well-located fastball with a sharp slider, teamed with reliever Gausman to put down the final 10 Bluejacket batters in a row.

C-I starter Trent Chromy struggled with 5 walks, a hit-batsman and giving up a hit when Andover took an early 2-0 lead. Ryan Miller relieved in the second, battling hard with 3.6 good innings. The Huskies made it 3-0 in the fourth with a single, stolen base and run-scoring flare to right. They scored their final two runs in the sixth off Miller and reliever Clayton Jennissen.

7AAA Tourney continues

The 7AAA final four began June 7, with Forest Lake defeating Andover 4-3 and St. Francis topping Duluth East 8-2. The Saints (13-7) then beat the defending-champ Rangers 5-3 in the last winners’ bracket game. The Huskies (13-10) stayed alive to play Forest Lake (17-6) on June 8 by blanking East 5-0 in the first losers’ brackets game.
