The Cambridge-Isanti boys placed 1st and the Bluejacket girls were 3rd in their final tune-up for sections at the May 26 North Branch Invite.
The distance runners had a particularly strong day for the C-I boys at North Branch. Billy Eifert (4:41), Trevor Galligan (4:43) and Joe Illg (4:50) swept the top three spots in the 1600. Reegan Lane (11:00) was 2nd and Kyle McCormick (11:03) placed 4th in the 3200. Also, Sam Westerberg was 2nd (2:02) and Patrick Jones 5th (2:11) in the 800.
The field events were also solid for the Bluejackets. Jason Codner won the long jump (19-06), Mark Volker was 1st in the pole vault (14-04), and Forrest Kalk (6-0) and Jordan Kalk (5-10) finished 1st-2nd in the high jump. Kish Daniels (39-09) and J. Kalk (39-05) added a 3rd and 4th in the triple jump. Jeremy Ham in the discus (130-03) and Clinton Treichel in the shot (41-03) both placed 3rd.
In the hurdles, Casey Golla (41.6) placed 2nd and Matt Andres (42.2) was 3rd in the 300, with Andres adding a 4th in the 110s.
• Hannah Mueller kept rolling with another strong meet for the Bluejacket girls with three wins, taking the titles in the long jump (17-05), triple jump (35-04) and 100 hurdles (15.22). Mueller added a 2nd place in the 300 hurdles (49.7).
Maddie Oullette ran to 2nd in the 3200 (13:03), and Bree Erickson was 3rd in the 800 (2:36) and 4th in the 1600 (5:43). More C-I girls highlights: Rocelle Anderson (9-0) and Adelle Nelson (8-06) 3rd and 4th in the pole vault; Grace Nelson (4-08) 4th in the high jump;
• The Section 7AA Finals open with the prelims and some event finals June 1 at Grand Rapids. The finals continue this Saturday, June 4, back at Grand Rapids.
