Verna Lorraine Lee, 83, of East Bethel passed away peacefully after a recent cancer diagnosis on Monday, May 23, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
She was born Nov. 10, 1927 in Ham Lake Township, Minnesota the daughter of the late Iver and Marie (Young) Soderquest who founded the Soderville General Store and later the Soderville Hardware, Appliance and Implement Store.
Verna was a woman of beauty with a flair for style and a zest for life. She had exceptional artistic and creative abilities which were generously shared with her church and community. Verna enriched other’s lives through her endless volunteer work with Our Savior’s Church, Unity Hospital, Cub Scouts, Ham Lake Senior Center, and fund raising for numerous charities.
Verna is survived by sons Brent and Brian; daughters-in-law Trudy and Marietta; sister-in-law Norma; grandchildren Brad, Lisa, Shiela, and Greg; twelve great-grandchildren; many extended family members and friends.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; by loving husband Elmer, son Bruce Lee, grandson Jacob Lee, and brother Virgil Soderquist.
She will be “Forever in our hearts”
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in East Bethel with Rev. Dan Nordin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Old Bethel Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cambridge.
