Seven GRC champs for Bomber girls track
The Braham girls had champions crowned in seven events when the Great River Conference track & field finals were hosted at East Central May 17. The Bombers placed 3rd in the team standings behind champ Rush City and runner-up Hinckley-Finlayson.
Braham’s 4×200 relay of Joanna Hale, Austyn Eng, Jaclyn Hollencamp and Hannah Dahlman ran to a winning time of 1:51.1– a full 5 seconds ahead of the Jaguars’ 2nd-place entry. The 4×100 relay of Hale, Eng, Hollencamp and Becca Dahlman posted a 1st-place time of 53.0.
H. Dahlman won the 400 in 1:011.8, and Eng took the 300 hurdles at 49.7. Hale and Eng finished 1st-2nd in the pole vault with both clearing 9-06. Hollencamp won the 100 dash at 13:01, and Rachel Eskuri added the Bombers’ final win with a 12:28 run in the 3200.
“That was a good meet for us to cap off the regular season. We had 24 personal-bests for the year and one tie for personal-best, so the athletes worked hard,” said Braham Coach Joe Rajkowski.
Placing 3rd for the Bombers were Kate Bendickson in the 1600 (5:59), H. Dahlman in the 200 (28.9), B. Dahlman in the 100 (13.5) and the 4×800 relay of Jessica Westman, Bendickson, Sammy Patterson and Eskuri (10:51). Westman also was 5th in the 1600 (6:04).
• The Braham boys finished 6th at the GRCs where Pine City dethroned Rush City for the title. Jacob Rajkowski placed 3rd in the 400 (54.0) and was 5th in the 200 (25.2).
