C-I Boys Golf finishes 4th in M-8

The Cambridge-Isanti boys golf squad finished in 4th place in the final Mississippi 8 standings after the final 18-hole meet was hosted at Riverwood CC May 24.

The Bluejackets placed 5th with a 329 at that gathering, led by Reggie Martin coming in at 81, with 82s shot by Ryan Lundeen and Matt Swanson. Also golfing for C-I were Jonah Poppen (84), Jared Knutson (85) and Jordan Knutson (90).

Swanson and Lundeen earned All-Conference in the final individual standings, with both Knutsons getting M-8 Honorable Mention.

“It was nice to see Reggie bring his score down as we head to sections.  Sections are next Tuesday at Bunker Hills.  We are playing 27 holes; should be a great test for the boys both physically and mentally,” noted C-I Coach Mike Hennen.

Rogers wrapped up their fourth straight conference title with a 291 total at Riverwood. Buffalo and St. Michael-Alb. were 2nd and 3rd.

In their other action this past week, the Bluejackets got to play the private Northland CC at the Duluth Central Invite. C-I placed 15th with a 345, led by Swanson (84), Martin (86), and Jo. Knutson (87). Hermantown won the invite with a 305 total, and C-I’s Section 7AA partner Duluth Central was 3rd at 318.
