On behalf of the Friends of Isanti County Anderson Park, we would like to express our special thanks to Senators Sean Nienow and Tony Lourey, and Representatives Kurt Daudt and Roger Crawford for their help in assuring that in the future, greater Minnesota will receive its fair share of Parks and Trails Legacy funding. We represent approximately 45 volunteers who are dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and primitive nature of Anderson Park, which is located in Oxford Township.
Under the proposed funding plan, the bulk of the Legacy funding would have gone to the DNR and the seven county metro area. Our local legislators worked to increase the percent of funds available to the other 80 Minnesota counties. They prevailed in spite of difficult odds, as the metropolitan park system was represented by teams of well-connected lobbyists.
Greater Minnesota needs and deserves a fair and adequate share of Parks and Trails Legacy funding. A big thank you to Senators Nienow and Lourey, and Representatives Crawford and Daudt for supporting and helping to pass legislation that achieves this for us.
