Meet the 2011 Cambridge Ambassador candidates

The Cambridge Ambassador Program is delighted to announce the names of the 16 young women participating in this year’s Candidate Experience.

Three of these bright and enthusiastic young ladies will be selected to represent the community at the annual Crowning Celebration when Ambassadors Kayla Wicklund (Northland Landscape Nursery), Cayla Yund (Shawn and Angie Gerhardson of Mortgages Unlimited), and Rachel Kalk (Century 21 Moline Realty) will crown their successors.

This year’s production, “This is the Way We Roll,” will be held Friday, June 17 at 7 p.m. in the Hardy Performing Arts Center at Cambridge-Isanti High School. Returning as Mistress and Master of Ceremonies are Gena Johnston Hughes, the 2001 Winter Carnival South Wind Princess; and her brother Joe Johnston, the 2002 Minneapolis Aquatennial Commodore and 2007 President of the Aquatennial Ambassador Organization.

General admission tickets will be available at the door for $8. Advanced sale reserved seats $10 and can be ordered through any of the candidates.

Friends, family, sponsors, and the public are invited to “Meet the Candidates” at this year’s Dessert Social on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at United Methodist Church.  Following introductions, all will enjoy a delectable display of treats and an opportunity to socialize.

The 7th annual Cambridge Ambassador Classic Golf Tournament for scholarships will be held Friday, June 10 at the Purple Hawk Country Club.Registration for the best-ball scramble starts at noon, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the top men’s, women’s, and mixed teams. The fun includes 18-holes of golf with a cart, individual contests at the holes, games led by the candidates at the tee boxes, prizes and raffles, and a delicious steak dinner to cap off a great day.  Interested golfers, hole sponsors, or raffle donors are encouraged to contact Laurie at  solle@cambridge.k12.mn.us or 612-991-1687.
