The Bluejacket boys golf team fired a 321 team score for 2nd place at Princeton GC May 16. Matt Swanson struck the ball really well as he fired a solid 75. Ryan Lundeen played extremely well to finish with a 78. Jordan Knutson (84) and Jonah Poppen (85) were the other counting scores for the varsity.
“We finished in 2nd place but still remain in 4th place in the season standings going into the final conference meet May 24 at Riverwood,” noted C-I Coach Mike Hennen.
That meet followed a busy conference stretch for the Bluejackets which began with the home M-8 meet at the Purple Hawk on May 11. With the course playing extremely wet following the Tuesday night storm, the Jackets came in 4th place with a 323 total.
Swanson and Jared Knutson worked through the conditions to lead the team with a pair of 80s. Lundeen (81) and Jordan Knutson (82) followed on the card, with Reggie Martin adding an 83.
Rogers’ McCabe Buege continued to pace the front-leading Royals with a one-under 71 at the Hawk.
The Bluejackets slipped into 4th place in the M-8 standings with a tough day at Pebble Creek May 12, coming in with a 337. Lundeen, Swanson and Jordan Knutson all shot 84s, and Jared Knutson was one back at 85. Matt Mellum added an 88 for C-I.
Jacket girls 4th at Riverwood
On a good day for golf, the Cambridge-Isanti girls placed 4th with a 321 at the conference meet at Riverwood National CC May 16. Posting scores for the team total for the Bluejackets were Emily Sunderman (48), Leah Schoenecker (53), Megan Hallstrom (56) and Anna Sunderman (61).
On May 11 at the Mora Scramble, the Bluejackets placed 7th out of 11 teams with a two-girl team totals of 86 and 99.
Following the May 19 St. Cloud Invite, the Bluejackets close the conference season at the May 24 finals hosted at Fox Hollow CC in Rogers.
