Murle Soland

Murle Soland, 82, of Fridley died May 14, 2011 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. 

Murle Dean Soland was born Aug. 24, 1928 in Enid, Okla. to H.J. and Clarabell Soland. When he was an infant the family moved to Minnesota and then settled in Isanti. In 1955 he married Joan Ginder. They lived in Minneapolis until 1970 when they made their home in Weber. In 1979 they moved to Fridley where they have lived ever since. Murle served in the Army from 1948 – 1951. He was a lifetime member of the Isanti VFW Post and served on their color guard. He was also a member of the Cambridge American Legion Post. Murle’s interests included fishing, woodworking and gardening.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan in 2007 and one brother, Gordon. Murle is survived by two daughters, Marie (Michael) Luck of Stacy, Carol (Tom) Thorsen of Fridley; six grandchildren, Christina (Edward) Grimm of Isanti, Karen (Karl) Nyquist of Isanti, William Luck of Stacy, Laurie Todora of Orlando, Fla., Erick Thorsen of Oakland, Calif. and Bobby Thorsen of Fridley; seven great-grandchildren, Kurtis and Kaylee Grimm, Cody, Zachary and Emily Nyquist, Genny Owens and Cheyanne Thorsen; one brother, Lawrence Soland of Minneapolis; and by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, May 19, from 5 – 8 p.m. Howard Skulstad will officiate. The soloist will be Jennifer Wallin and Mary Kay O’Neill will serve as pianist. Pallbearers are Kaylee and Kurtis Grimm, Willaim Luck, Cody Mahrer, Karl and Zachary Nyquist, Dean Soland and Bobby Thorsen. Interment will be in Fridsborg Cemetery in East Bethel with the Isanti VFW Post proving Military Honors.
