Posting a season-low 406 at Wild Marsh May 5, the Cambridge-Isanti girls golf team is showing its improvement as the season continues.
Leah Schoenecker scored a season-low 96 to pace the team. Alyssa Rapp (103) and Megan Koester (104) shot personal-best rounds, matched by Emily Sunderman at 103.
“The team is shooting to break 390 at a conference meet before the end of the season,” projected Coach Kris Vaske.
Jacket boys 3rd at Pebble Creek
Jordan Knutson fired a career-low 73 when the Cambridge-Isanti boys placed 3rd at the conference meet at Wild Marsh in Buffalo May 5. Filling out the varsity card for the Bluejackets were Matt Swanson (80), Ryan Lundeen (82) and Jared Knutson (85).
Rogers upped its lead in the season standings by winning the meet, and Buffalo currently holds a 10-point lead on C-I entering this week.
Bomber girls at Purple Hawk
The Braham girls golf squad swept a Great River double-dual meet at the Purple Hawk May 10, upping their conference record to 4-3 on the season. The GRC finals will be hosted May 17 at Cuyuna CC.
On Tuesday, the Bombers defeated Isle 227-253 and Onamia 227-264. Caitlin Richmond was the medalist with a 53, and Brianna Richmond came in at 58.
“The Richmonds, Ali Anderson, Megan Schutte and Lauren Vandenport all have been making improvements on their game. The Purple Hawk played tough with the wet conditions,” said Bomber Coach Ed Melcher.
• The Braham boys get a two-day golf trip to the Virginia CC this weekend. The teams also have GRC duals at Rush City and Moose Lake prior to the finals.
