Buffalo gets leg up on Jackets in M-8 Baseball, Braham splits two games

Buffalo took an early 5-1 lead and held on to defeat Cambridge-Isanti in a key Mississippi 8 baseball battle May 6. The Bluejackets get another shot at the Bison May 17 during their upcoming monster stretch of five games in seven days.

Brent Schoenwald took the loss for C-I, giving up a homer and 3 earned runs. Trent Chromey later came on in relief and struck out 5 in 1.6 innings. Cole Bakke and Clayton Jennissen both went 3-for-4 for the Jackets, with Garrett Hedberg adding 2 hits.

C-I 8, Princeton 5

Ryan Miller and Austin Karpen combined to keep the host Tigers in check when the Jackets won May 5. Mike Henderscheid had 3 hits including a double, with 2 hits each provided by Bakke, Hedberg and Nick Johnson.

C-I 5, Zimmerman 1

Bakke got win No. 7 by striking out 4 with 0 walks in the May 10 road victory. RBIs were supplied by Hedberg, Johnson, Henderscheid, Reed Burns and Ryan Epsen.

M-8 Baseball

Legacy 8, Braham 2

Legacy Christian handed the Bombers their first loss on the season May 6. Driving in Braham runs were Christian Towery and Kyle Grell.

The Bombers rebounded with a 12-4 win over host Hinckley May 10.
